Glowing, glassy, plump and hydrated skin looks fresh on everybody. It’s a no makeup look that relies on great skincare and it’s achievable, let us show you how...
What is dewy skin?
If you’ve ever been for a facial or used a great exfoliating product, you’ll know what dewy skin feels like. It’s a glowing, fresh, plump look that doesn’t rely on makeup. As for how to achieve it, well the secret lies in your skincare routine. Here is our recommended routine for dewy skin, including ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C, and Squalane.
The dewy skincare routine
Speaking of commitment, to get the most out of your skincare routine you need to be consistent. Even if it’s just a simple cleanse and moisturise, it needs to happen every morning and evening. Our dewy routine is no exception, consistency is key to a dewy, natural look. It’s not all skincare though, for maximum levels of dewiness, it’s worth looking at your diet too. Try to boost your fruit and vegetable intake and ensure you’re drinking at least two litres of water a day.
Step 1: Cleanse
For the glass-like radiance of dewy skin, it’s essential to deeply cleanse skin. First to remove any debris that will disturb the smooth surface of your skin, and secondly to get rid of anything that will dull your glow. Try to use lukewarm water to avoid drying out skin. For help finding the cleansing product for your skin type look to our useful guide to choosing a cleanser. Ultra Facial Cleanser is a mild foaming cleanser that cleanses skin without stripping it of natural oils. It is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
Step 2: Exfoliate - up to 3 times a week
It might seem like overkill to wash your face again but exfoliating up to three times a week is an effective way of dislodging stubborn dry skin cells that will dull your glow. It also helps to give skin a smooth and even texture. Choose a manual exfoliating product – like our Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion which contains micronised shells (tiny, crushed shells like a fine dust) that gently buff skin. Simply massage into skin and rinse clear.
Step 3: Tone
After you have washed and rinsed your face and patted it dry with a towel, you only have 1 minute before moisture starts evaporating, leaving skin feeling tight and dry. Skin that is lacking in water will never look dewy, the bouncy glow comes directly from hydration. Combat this issue by immediately applying an alcohol-free toner to deliver water to thirsty skin, helping to cleanse it from any excess surface oil or dirt that your cleanser may have missed. We recommend Ultra Facial Toner, formulated with olive-derived Squalane. Our toner prepares skin to absorb your serum and moisturiser, and is formulated not to over dry or strip skin of natural oils. You can also find the right toner for your needs and skin type here.
Step 4: Eye Care
Don’t forget to hydrate the eye area in your search for a dewy look. Choosing a specialised under-eye hydrator means you can get the glow all over your complexion. We recommend Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing & Dark Circle-Diminishing Vitamin C Eye Serum which contains both Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C and works to instantly refresh the delicate eye area, targeting the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Step 5: Serum
Hydration is the key to the dewy look. Plumped up, water rich cells give skin a new glow and a bouncy, youthful look. It is important to understand that there is a difference between hydrating your skin and moisturising your skin. Serums work to hydrate by drawing water towards cells, moisturisers work to seal moisture in. We suggest Vital Skin-Strengthening Hyaluronic Acid Super Serum which contains both Glycerin and Hyaluronic Acid. It works to fortify the skin barrier function by penetrating skin up to 8 surface layers deep* thus helping skin to better retain moisture.
*Based on a clinical study of 25 panelists measuring the penetration of the full formula via tape stripping.
