What It Is

Dull, uneven skin tone can result from various factors including sun exposure, environmental stressors, and natural skin cell turnover. A brightening toner can help address these concerns by targeting dark spots and improving overall clarity. Our lightweight brightening toner is formulated with Illuminating Minerals and Activated C — a stabilised form of Vitamin C — to visibly brighten skin and diminish dullness for improved clarity. Part of our Clearly Corrective™ collection, this gentle brightening face toner also features Licorice Root to help soothe skin and visibly smooth and refine skin texture. It provides hydration while targeting uneven skin tone and dark spots, which may help reveal a healthier looking, more radiant complexion.

Key Ingredients

LICORICE ROOT

Extracted from a perennial herb native to Europe, Asia and the Middle East, Licorice Root Extract has been used medicinally since 500 BC. An effective complement to a routine focused on skin brightening, clarity and evenness, Licorice Root is known for its soothing and calming properties.

ACTIVATED C

Activated C, which is a stabilised form of Vitamin C that specifically addresses uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation, goes to work immediately upon contact with the skin. Activated C may help visibly diminish the look of dullness and uneven skin tone and can help increase clarity and brightness for a healthy-looking, more radiant complexion.

WHITE BIRCH EXTRACT

White Birch Extract is a sugar-derived ingredient known for its ability to restore hydration and nutrients to the skin. In our skincare products, this potent active ingredient works with Activated C to help even skin tone over time, with results that may vary.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT DOES A BRIGHTENING TONER DO?

We formulate brightening toners to help visibly reduce dullness, uneven skin tone, and the appearance of dark spots, typically using ingredients like Vitamin C and Licorice Root. Our Clearly Corrective™ Brightening & Soothing Treatment Water is formulated with Activated C (a stabilised form of Vitamin C), Illuminating Minerals, and Licorice Root to help brighten skin and improve clarity with every use.

IS THIS BRIGHTENING TONER SUITABLE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN?

Yes, this brightening toner is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin (so you can feel confident adding it to your routine!). It's dermatologist-tested for safety and formulated with soothing Licorice Root to help calm and comfort skin. The lightweight, non-stripping formula is designed to brighten without irritation.

CAN A BRIGHTENING TONER HELP WITH DARK SPOTS AND HYPERPIGMENTATION?

We find that a brightening toner with targeted ingredients can help visibly reduce the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation over time. Our formula features Activated C, which specifically addresses uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation, working alongside White Birch Extract to help even skin tone and boost radiance.

HOW DOES THIS BRIGHTENING TONER FIT INTO MY SKINCARE ROUTINE?

We recommend using this brightening toner twice daily after cleansing and before your serum or moisturiser. Simply shake the bottle until the Illuminating Minerals create an iridescent swirl, then pour onto your palms or a cotton pad and lightly pat onto your face. Follow with your regular skincare routine and a daily sunscreen. For best results, pair it with the full Clearly Corrective™ skincare routine for dark spots and skin discolourations.

WHAT ARE THE KEY INGREDIENTS IN THIS BRIGHTENING TONER?

The key ingredients are Activated C (a stabilised form of Vitamin C that targets dullness and uneven skin tone), Illuminating Minerals (for a subtle, healthy glow), Licorice Root Extract (known for its soothing and calming properties), and White Birch Extract (which helps restore hydration and works with Activated C to even skin tone). Discover how these ingredients work together in our complete Clearly Corrective™ collection.

HOW IS A BRIGHTENING TONER DIFFERENT FROM A REGULAR TONER?

We typically see that a regular toner focuses on hydration or balancing the skin's pH after cleansing, while a brightening toner is specifically formulated with active ingredients — like Vitamin C and botanical extracts — to target dullness, dark spots, and uneven skin tone. Our Clearly Corrective™ Treatment Water combines the hydrating benefits of a toner with the targeted brightening power of a treatment. SHOP NOW to add this brightening essential to your routine.
